BackA Level and BTEC Results Day a Success at Ortu Stanford & Corringham Sixth Form Centre
Students at Ortu Sixth Form Centre are celebrating some fantastic A-Level and BTEC results today. Despite the challenges over the past two years, and the effects of the pandemic, all of our Sixth Form Graduates have worked hard, secured impressive success and are looking forward to starting university, taking up employment opportunities, or beginning apprenticeships.
This year at Ortu Sixth Form Centre, we had a 97% overall pass rate and 42% of students achieved grades A*-B. Some of the best performing subjects this year were Art, Photography, Business Studies, Performing Arts, Applied Science, Maths, Geography and Psychology.
Mr. Gary Lewis, Principal, said: “I am thrilled for all the students and that all have secure destinations to go to. They have worked hard to achieve their grades. Well done to all students and also congratulations to all staff for their commitment and dedication they have unwaveringly shown to allow our students to reach their full protentional. Well done everybody, you should all be very proud.”
Ms. Sue Weston, Director of the Ortu Sixth Form Centre commented: “I am so proud of all my students who have worked hard in such difficult circumstances and I wish them every success for the future.”
Our Ortu Sixth Form Centre is extremely proud of everyone’s achievement this year, and would like to highlight some individuals that have really excelled:
- Harry Gardner, 18 from Stanford-Le-Hope achieved A* in Maths, A* in Physics and A in Further Maths and is going to University College London to study Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. All the hard work and late evenings Harry put in at college definitely paid off.
- Amie Mitchell, 18 from Corringham, will be going to Imperial College to study Chemistry having achieved A* in Chemistry, A* in Maths and A in Physics. After a re-mark of her Physics paper, we are now pleased to confirm that Amie now has an A* in Physics, making her our top performing student. Many congratulations Amie, we are really proud of you!
- Isla Robins,18, from Stanford-Le-Hope has a choice of two universities having achieved A in Biology, A in English Literature and A in Psychology.
- Alisha Woznica,18, from Stanford-le-Hope, will be joining the University of Essex to study Adult Nursing in September having received D*D*D in Applied Science
- There were a number of notable performances in the Vocational subjects including Joshan Mustafa, 18, from Stanford-Le-Hope achieving D*D* in Business Studies and B in Financial Studies, Shaanti Jhita, 18, from Grays achieving D*DD in Applied Science, as well as Poppy Proctor, Breanna Osei-Assibey, Olaoluwa Ogunfowokan and Jack Beer all achieving D*DD in Applied Science.
