About This Course
Fine Art is a diverse, in depth, inspiring and practical investigation into a range of media and techniques. You will explore the work of an extensive range of artists and designers and have the opportunity to access media such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital art and installation to create a broad and extensive portfolio. You are encouraged to express you own artistic identity and will explore independently identified themes. As far as possible the course will be tailored to support your own interests. 

Course Content & Assessment
AQA A Level Fine Art consists of two parts Component 1: Personal Investigation 60% and Component 2: Externally Set Assignment 40%. Following a series of portfolio workshops you will start component one where you have complete freedom to select the idea, concept or theme for your ‘Personal Investigation’. Your practical work will be presented in sketchbooks and supported by written reflection. (1000-3000 words).

For component two AQA provide a range of ideas or concepts, you choose one to explore and develop into a final piece. This is completed during 15 hours of supervised time.

What could this course lead to?
A Level Fine Art can lead to higher qualifications, such as the Foundation Diploma and Degree. It can also lead to a variety of careers including Product Design, Architect, Marketing and Promotion, Fine Artist, Interior Design or Graphic Design.


What do I need to study this course?
Grade 6+ or equivalent in either:
GCSE Art & Design
GCSE Photography
GCSE Textiles

or 
approval of portfolio
